Stir Fried Asparagus with Shrimp recipe video | Normai Farang Pad Goong | หน่อไม้ฝรั่งผัดกุ้ง
We are finally back with our recipe video cooking tutorials. Hooray! (and about time…) Today we have a recipe video for you showing how to make Stir Fried Asparagus with Shrimp. This is a relatively simple dish but is tasty and quite healthy. The ingredients required should be easy to find in most corners of the globe.
Ingredients
– Prawn/Shrimp (5 med/lrg)
– Asparagus (300g) – Garlic (1 tbsp)
– Oyster Sauce (2 tbsp)
– Dark Soy Sauce (1 tbsp)
– Sugar (half tbsp)
– Cooking Oil (2 tbsp)
Method
1. In a frying pan or a wok, heat oil over medium heat and stir fry the garlic until aromatic. Add the garlic before the oil is too hot to avoid burning.
2. Add the prawn and stir fry until almost done.
3. Then add the asparagus and stir fry. At this stage you can put the prawns aside or sit them on top of the asparagus so they don’t overcook.
4. After about 90 seconds you can add the sauce. Best if you premixed it before you began to cook so that the sugar is somewhat dissolved.
5. Continue to gently stir fry for another 2 mins or so. Cooking times will very depending on the thickness of your asparagus. Serve with steamed rice.
Snapping Asparagus
Starting at the tip of the asparagus, bend the stem and snap off about a 2-inch length piece (a fresh asparagus should snap easily). Continue snapping off 2 inch pieces until you come to the point where it’s too woody and fibrous to snap. You can discard the fibrous ends of the asparagus.
Asparagood
Asparagus is packed with good-for-you vitamins and minerals like vitamins A, C, E, K, and B6, as well as folate, iron, copper, calcium, protein, and fiber. You can read more about the health benefits here: http://www.health.com/nutrition/asparagus-health-benefits#purple-asparagus-antioxidants
